Picking OF and OFMEET version for Remote Desktop

Question asked by Mark Bordo on Aug 1, 2017

Hello,

I have been attempting to put together an openfire server for my department for the purpose of remote desktop control. We have mac, ubuntu, and windows computers in the department which is why I picked OF and OFMEET.

I have tried to use OF 4.1.5 with OFMEET 0.9.1 and 0.3.30  and OF 4.0.2 with 0.3.28 and 0.3.29, and seem to be running into different problems.  Running 0.3x lets me use the chrome plugin for remote desktop, but I get a "Cannot Switch Video Feed" error when trying to share desktop. The error logs did not show any errors.

I attempted to download the latest plugin from github, added the chrome extension id from the extension I made and posted to the chrome store, but still do not see a desktop share icon.

Lastly, I attempted to use Jitsi-Desktop app, but video calls fail (ICE-error).

Am I missing something? Is there a combination of OF and OFMEET or a JITSI-desktop setting that is known to be a reliable combination.

I am running a Hyper-V VM, Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS, with Oracle Java 8.

Thank you for any help.  I should have mentioned in the top, I am a chemist, not a developer or programmer.
